Getting bored with mesmer... Possible?
Like everyone in here, I love my mesmer.
But lately, when exploring Elona, I have found mesmer to be boring.
Why you would ask?
Ineptitude, clumsiness, signet of clumsiness, conjure phant, images of remorse, energy trap, ether feast, Energy Surge, spiritual pain, CoF, backfire, empathy, three kinds of enchant removing (Dervish enemies ftw!), powerdrain....
You see, when using common mesmer PvE builds, I'm really wondering if I hadn't done something yet. So easy to use empathy on that warrior charging to a player, while switching target and casting backfire or powerdrain on that caster.
Now I checked around on Wiki, and I don't see to many PvP builds either... Right now i'm using an IW assassin build, wich is very fun. But for how long will that fun last?
I feel bad about the thought of leaving my mesmer alone for awhile, since there role seems a bit to specialized... (narrowed number of builds) And since she has all the titles, well... get's hard to progress to KoaBD title now, cause of the routine.
I see alot of people here inventing PvE builds, wich is a good sign. But where does mesmer end and where does another proffesion begin? I know there excists a air spike build, but I have yet to see a fire spike build in PvE that still includes some mesmer skills.
So, I kinda have mixed feelings here. Should I set my prioreties to PvP for awhile? And work on titles second? Should I fool around with secondaries in the hopes to find some hybrid mesmer or should I play another proffession for awhile in the hopes i'll find renewed interest in some point?
*sigh*
Any helpfull comments are appriciated.
Thanks in advance.

Reason: Wrong intention in title.

yeah i feel the same way. i can think of a bunch of different builds, but there just isnt too many actually effective ones. for pvp the only build i ever use anymore with at least some effect is the whole ineptitude/clumsiness/sig of clumsiness build. i hate to be the "backline support" caster. i like to be upfront and throwing out real spikes...mesmer was my favorite profession for a long time but its growing old.

Diversion
Shame
Ressurection Signet
Gale or some sort of interrupt
I honeslty dont know if this is the corret build because i dont play mesmer much but spiritual pain is being used a lot in HA at the moment because of all the spirit spammers.
So yeah your mesmer still has place for pvp anywhere
waste of thread

I have 1500 hours+ on my ranger, and I know that it is natural to take breaks from your favorite profession. Go out and try other things, if you find something you like better, try and stick with it. I always found that I would always drift back into my Ranger habit.
I think a big part of replayability of a character is inventing your own builds to try and solo parts of the game that you enjoy. I always like to go try to find ways to solo the places in the game that I enjoy looking around.
Its easy to get a little sick of one profession, but once you take a short break you will most likely be back where you started.

For now I somehow like Dervish. The AoE melee damage feels a bit like Spiritual Pain sometimes, only looks more...active.
And it's melee, making it somehow a more brutal experience....kinda like an way of venting steam.

Yeah, it's so easy to push a button and do up to a 100 dmg in one second. Repeat with energy surge and whatnot...Klick, click boom. Same as in PvE.
Thanks for the tips in any case. Think i'll go play Dervish a bit, maybe see if there are skills I can use for my mesmie. ^_^.

I really love playing my mesmer and yeah, im kinda getting bored because it seems that i have tried all of the combinations for my mes, and i have made sooooo many of my own builds, but now, im gonna try out illusion magic and see how that works out. Im also trying out a new Ranger, since it kind of intrigues me in teh same way that mesmer does. Its the same way with the dervish. Even so, i will ALWAYS LOVE MY MES AN ALWAYS PLAY HIM!!!!

And so i'll always love mine. If there is one thing I do believe is that cute mesmie will only learn from other proffessions, and I'll be able to use my experience with Dervish to have renewed fun with Mal. I'll never stop using her, even if it's only once in a week or so...
15 builds so far...Core/Tyria, Core/Cantha, Core/NF, All, Cantha/NF, etc... and the only way now is to take those builds to a higher lvl... PvP, that is where the endgame lies I think.
Again, like all proffessions, everyone comes to a point they seen it all.
I wish you all the best of luck, and hope i'll still have many good moments with my mesmie.

Yeah, honestly mesmer is a PVP profession because casting backfire on an enemy that's going to die within 6 seconds anyway is useless. Monsters aren't really affected by diversion since they'll probably only use each of their skills once.

Bleh, Domination is the Fire Magic of Mesmers. Far too used, leaving Illusion in its wake. I'm an Illusion Mesmer to the core, pumping out builds just about every week lol.
Some builds you simply can't get tired of, such as the caster/melee hate builds. The satisfaction of knowing the other side is probably extremely pissed off is enough. And for Domination's side, how could anyone get tired of spamming spamming Diversion on a monk (in PvP)? That's like the most frustrating thing ever to have to deal with.

IMO, mesmer is a profession where you need patience and predict the other person's thoughts. Perhaps, a bit too much of that can sometimes make the profession boring.

RoF = Reversal of Fortune, I think..
You must have superhuman reflexes if you can interrupt a RoF.., or probably being sarcastic..
